Author
As a youngster, John Heidtke caddied at a country club. That experience taught him the rules of the game and how to “experience” a course by walking the round. With his father’s set of hickory shafted clubs he developed a passion for learning the history and legacy of the ancient Scottish game.
John is a long time member of the United States Golf Association (USGA). He contributes to THE FIRST TEE of Detroit and other junior golf activities, especially for high risk youth.
Heidtke has authored several other books advocating the endless treasures of Michigan, the outdoors, and the value of enjoying it all with family and friends. His other books include, Family Outdoor Journal, Hey! Take Me Fishing, Again, A Summer’s Passage on Sutter’s Bay, and Getting Down to Earth: A Call to Environmental Action.
