JOHN HEIDTKE is passionate about Michigan and the Great Lakes region. Depending on the season, John enjoys a variety of outdoor activities. He is also active with environmental projects aimed at protecting Great Lakes water quality and the fishing industry. John supports the Michigan United Conservation Clubs, Anglers of the AuSable, and the Great Lakes Sport Fishing Council. He is the recipient of the Citizens Award, Detroit City Council. His past participation on the St. Clair River Remedial Action Plan has been recognized by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment. Exploring and writing about the Great Lakes occupies a favorite pastime. John has published articles in national and international publications. His fictional novel, A Summer’s Passage on Sutter’s Bay (2005) is set in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
