Karen Doolaard was born and raised in South Dakota and moved to Michigan in 1991 when she married her husband, John. She has been crocheting since her early teens. In 2007 she got involved in the Prayer Shawl ministry at her church. She wanted a devotional to read to the group when they met monthly but couldn’t find anything on the market so started writing them. Karen is excited to find a ministry for the hobby she has enjoyed for years. Karen has tried counted cross-stitch, crewel embroidery and knitting but always thought, “I could be crocheting.” Karen also enjoys tatting, reading and traveling with her husband. Karen and John have been in 49 states and three foreign countries.
